ABSTRACT
The only consolidated approach for total thyroidectomy is
Bilateral Axillo-Breast Approach Robotic Thyroidectomy (RTBABA),
with experience in thousands of patients. It is a central,
inferior approach that provides a surgical field similar to that of
conventional open thyroidectomy, allowing the performance of
total thyroidectomy and the treatment of lymph nodes on both
sides of the neck. It uses high-definition cameras providing an
unmatched image of the surgical field; in addition, it provides
neuromonitoring to protect the recurrent and superior laryngeal
nerves. A case of follicular thyroid adenoma managed with
RT-BABA is presented, the first performed at the Angeles
Leon Hospital.
