ABSTRACT

Amyand’s hernia is an uncommon condition characterized by the presence of the vermiform appendix within an inguinal hernia sac. We present the case of an 18-year-old male patient who was admitted to the emergency department with abdominal pain and fever. During diagnostic laparoscopy, a type 3 Amyand’s hernia with a perforated appendix and generalized peritonitis was identified. A laparoscopic appendectomy, peritoneal lavage, and drainage were performed, resulting in a satisfactory clinical outcome. This report highlights the importance of considering this variant in the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen and demonstrates that laparoscopic management is a safe and effective option, even in complicated scenarios. Timely identification and appropriate treatment help optimize postoperative outcomes.
