ABSTRACT

Pituitary tumors are common, with adenohypophyseal tumors being the most prevalent, whereas neurohypophyseal tumors are uncommon. Pituicytoma is a low-grade glial tumor according to the World Health Organization (WHO). It originates from the basal hypothalamus, has a good prognosis, and is classified as a grade I neoplasm according to the 2022 WHO classification. Accurate identification has therapeutic implications in cases of residual disease. We present a case initially diagnosed as a non-functioning pituitary adenoma, with a final diagnosis of pituicytoma.
