ABSTRACT

Objective: To design a registry for the notification of adverse events in the multipurpose intensive care unit led by nurses. Methods: I+D+i development research, through a mixed exploratory sequential study. In the multipurpose intensive care unit of the Provincial Hospital Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía Lima from 2016 and 2018. In the qualitative phase, three discussion groups, documentary and bibliographic review, were used for the design and validation with experts of the Adverse Event Notification Registry using the Delphi method. In the quantitative phase, the notification registry was applied to 517 patients (study universe), in the temporal cut from January to September 2017. Results: The components of the notification registry were identified and its evaluation was carried out in practice, according to the trend of adverse events and quality indicators, favorable to the decrease. Conclusions: The Adverse Event Notification Registry constitutes a great contribution to the professional and academic practice of Nursing, as a key element in the organization of intensive care, as it offered a scientifically supported final product.
