ABSTRACT
Multiple sclerosis is a pathology that rarely causes admission to intensive care and has no known association with tracheal rupture. Presentation: It’s presented the case of a 25-year-old woman with a history of apparent health who presented a decreased level of consciousness and motor limb involvement. Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the skull with contrast is performed where, at the level of the brainstem, hypointense lesions in T1 and hyperintense in T2 and Flair was observed, in white matter subcortical cuts, smaller images was observed with the same behavior. In the intravenous study, it was observed that the lesion on the left stem enhances after the administration of the contrast, which indicates an injury with active demyelination. An acute outbreak of multiple sclerosis was diagnosed. Tracheal rupture was diagnosed during steroid treatment. It was decided to maintain in conservative behavior and symptomatic treatment. It evolves satisfactorily and leaves. Timely diagnosis, and treatment of an acute outbreak of multiple sclerosis and traumatic complications of the trachea can result in a satisfactory recovery of the patient.
