ABSTRACT

Around 6% of post-intubated patients have presented tracheal stenosis, however, in the new post-COVID-19 era, the incidence has been shown to be increasing. A case of a 28-year-old woman with carina stenosis after prolonged intubation due to COVID-19 is described. Management with carina resection and neocarina formation is reported satisfactorily in a second level hospital. It is considered the first reported case of post-COVID-19 carineal stenosis. Its importance lies in the increase in cases of complex stenosis that require definitive surgical management and can be successfully treated with resection and anastomosis.
