ABSTRACT

The HeartMate 3 left ventricular assist device represents an established therapeutic option of therapy in advanced heart failure. We describe our institutional implantation technique, incorporating three key modifications: a double-ring apical reinforcement system with biological adhesive to optimize hemostasis, a “C”-shaped driveline tunneling technique as an anti-infectious barrier, and transesophageal echocardiography-guided inflow cannula positioning to ensure optimal alignment toward the mitral valve.
