ABSTRACTDescribe the characteristics of the pleural effusion, mentioning its multiple causes. In the present case are mentioned, the evolution, the diagnostic methods used and reference to the atypical cause for a foreign body in the airway. We made patient´s pursuit during its hospitalization besides to consult the clinical file as much as obtaining the data of its clinical manifestations. Later making revision of the Literature of empyemas caused by strange bodies in airway. The isolated cases reported for foreign bodies are predominantly of gastrointestinal tract and continuity can affect the mediastinum, lung, pancreas or liver, although it is exceptional.
