ABSTRACT

We are reporting four knees of congenital absence of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee, addressed through 10 years of our practices in arthroscopic surgery. All the patient, a man with bilateral congenital absence, and two women, have been totally healthy, without evidences of some other congenital alteration, that carry out their totally normal activities, included practices of some sport. All they have studied with clinical data of anterior instability, without previous lesion, the instability in the case of the women has corresponded to a degree I in the sign of anterior drawer and not required handling specifies. In the case of the man, the instability on the right knee was considerable (anterior drawer of 10 mm) for what one carried out modified Jones technique. In the left knee the instability was minimum and we doesn’t make surgical handling. In all the patients we corroborates arthroscopically the presence of the posterior crossed ligament without damage, in the last case, a 23 year-old girl, even get us our attention their strong tension. Radiographically, in two patients finds changes of minimum osteoarthritis, and in the last patient, with knee without arthritis data so much for radiology as visible arthroscopically
