Adverse reaction, the blood donation.

ABSTRACT

The blood donation is a voluntary act in which the donor can experience adverse reactions, limited by itself processes of quick recovery and without sequels. Objective: To determine the adverse reaction type for blood donation (ARD). Methodology: A study was made cross-sectional, longitudinal, descriptive, and retrospective during 1° of January to the 31 of December of 2006, the study population was 7600 donors of both sexes, clinical histories of the file of the blood donation point and design were analyzed a data base for the compilation of such. Results: 132 donors presented RAD, 74 cases were of masculine sex (56%), 63 cases were located between 18 and 28 years, the RAD presented in the donors were: sick in 119, feels nauseous 45, lipotimia 13, convulsion 10, vomit 9, dyspnea 8, diaforesis 3 and relaxation of sphincters 1. Conclusions: The incidence of the RAD of 1.7% was compared with a study made in 2001 where it reports that the RAD were of 480 cases equivalent to the 2.0% of the total of the donations, this demonstrates that we are underneath as much in cases presented as in incidence; a global number of prevalence around 11 - 21% of RAD is considered in the blood donation in the National Cardiologic Institute of Ignacio Chavez.
