Management of anxiety and stress before and during an electrosurgery in a clinic of dysplasias

ABSTRACT

Objective: Presenting the relevance of psychological support at surgical proceedings that can produce anxiety and stress levels in feminine patients that assist to a dysplasia clinic. Method and material: It was performed a prospective study, randomized applying the Wilcoxon statistical test with a 0.05 significance level. Results: In a sample of 140 patients, the anxiety and stress levels decreased with psychoeducation and autorelaxation techniques, and it was statistically significative (p = .000). This information confirms that electrosurgical proceedings in a dysplasia clinic can be better supported with psychological intervention. Conclusion: Multidisciplinary management is necessary at all medicine specialities, at this study, it is proved statistically that integrating psychological support to patients that assist to a dysplasia clinic contribute to decrease their anxiety and stress levels.
