ABSTRACT
Objective. To know the frequency of neonatal resuscitation in the delivery room.
Material and methods. The files of 7,162 newborn infants in a year were revised. Information about resuscitation was obtained in 6,829 (95.3%), in regard to gestational age, birth weight and type of maneuvers done. The fatality rate was calculated.
Results. Among those who received resuscitation in 333 (4.65%) were tracheal intubated and 28 (8.4%) received thoracic compressions; in 16 (4.8%) they were used some medication. The fatality rate was of 1.2 for 1,000.
Conclusions. The frequency of maneuvers of advanced reanimation went not very smaller to the one reported in the literature. The newly born ones with weight under they required more maneuvers of advanced rehabilitation.
