Surgical treatment of muscular lesion

ABSTRACT

Objective of the present paper is to determine de proper indications for surgical treatment of muscular injuries and the technique for every kind of rupture as well as the expected results. A series of 19 athletes who were operated on through the first 6 months of 1997 for a variety of muscular injuries is reported. Overall results were good and only 2 complications were found. Muscle repair or reconstruction must achieve such high-lights as relief of pain and muscular tension in the repair zone, release of impinged nerves and adhesions to the skin, avoid granuloma in scar, recover muscular strenght and shortening of healing span in order to coming back to sports activities in the proper time.
