ABSTRACT

Cantrell’s pentad is a congenital malformation characterized by: sternum defect, anterior diaphragm defect, parietal pericardium defect, omphalocele and Ectopia cordis. Ectopia cordis associated with aminiotic bands is a pathogenic mechanism by which sterno-costal defect, gastroschisis or supraumbilical defect are present in a different way to those cases in which Ectopia cordis is associated with middle line defects with omphalocele and diaphragmatic hernia. We report a case in which amniotic bands syndrome produced Cantrell’s pentad malformations.
