ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper is to present consensus guidelines for the treatment of children and adolescents with obesity, with emphasis on:
a) Diagnosis of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents.
b) Identification of metabolic complications using biochemical parameters.
c) General aims of the treatment.
d) Indications for evaluation by Pediatric Endocrinologists.
e) Characteristics of individualized dietary program.
f) Principles to design a plan for physical exercise.
g) Indications for pharmacological or surgical treatment
h) Efficacy and security parameters of pharmacological treatment.
