ABSTRACT

Introduction. The functional auditory limitation occupies an important position due to the seriousness of its consequences. The sufferer, is surrounded by a labyrinth of barriers to human communication, nevertheless, with suitable rehabilitation promoting the development of oral language, the restrictions in their social participation maybe reduced.
Objective. To evaluate the effect of the implementation of the audioverbal education in the auditory perception in infants with functional auditory limitation by means of a pilot study.
Material and methods. Two male subjects (8 and 9 years old), were selected not randomly, both with confirmed diagnosis of functional auditory limitation and they had auditory aids for the evaluation of the auditory perception. The Gotzens and Marro test was used, this test explore in a block the noises and sounds and in another block the language.
Results. Both subjects overcame the difficulties presented in the indicators corresponding to both the noises and sounds block. In the same way were the results in the language block, except the auditive auditive background indicator, in its two modalities, camouflage and simultaneous stimuli, which continued to be a difficulty despite of training.
Conclusions. The implementation of audioverbal education produces improvement in auditory perception.
