HELLP syndrome, acute pancreatitis.

ABSTRACT

A case of female patient, who is 42 years of age, is presented with the diagnosis of systemic hypertension induced by pregnancy, complicated with a HELLP syndrome (hemolysis, liver enzyme elevation, and a decrease in the platelet count), and in a concomitant form, an acute pancreatitis state. The association of a hypertensive disease induced by pregnancy and an acute pancreatitis is rare and it has an elevated fetal-maternal death risk. It is even rare the presence of a HELLP syndrome, associated with an acute edematose pancreatitis, which in itself carries a greater death risk; the diagnosis is backed up with the clinical picture, laboratory exams, ultrasound and abdominal tomography. We had a satisfactory response, with the medical treatment; it is an illustrative case, which is useful as experience, so we can have it in mind in other similar situations.
