ABSTRACT

Baron Guillaume Dupuytren anatomist and pathologist was the best French surgeon of the 19th century. He was the first to make a detailed description of the fibromatosis of the hand, that bears his name. He also described the treatment through fasciectomies. Since then hundreds of studies had been developed. Two issues have been the aim of this study the cause and the cure that are still unknown.
