ABSTRACT
Objective: The purpose of this study is to propose a cephalometric reference for children in central Mexico, it posses a great value for diagnosis and treatment plan for malocclusion as well as the comparison with the average values established by Ricketts in his summary analysis of the Caucasian American population.
Material and Methods: 29 children in their 9
th ± 4 Mo. year of age, both sexes with harmonious morphology and dynamically balanced of 350 students from public schools in San Luis Potosi, Mexico were selected. The requirements for inclusion were; Angle’s Class I Dewey Anderson type 0 molar relationship independent of facial biotype. Cephalometric analysis was considered at 95% confidence level with NCSS v6.0.22 (Hintze 1996).
Results: Cephalometric differences among the variables; lower incisor inclination, lower incisor position, esthetic plane of the lower lip and interstitial angle. These values define facial and dental profiles, more protrusive for the sample than the proposed by Ricketts.
Conclusion: The treatment plan and therapeutic objective should be based on the characteristics of the region to be applied.
