ABSTRACT

Objective: Compare the diastolic function in left ventricle by Doppler tissue (DT) and pulsed Doppler (PD) on the mitral annulus in patients with ischemia before and after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). Material and methods: It is an observational, comparative, longitudinal and descriptive study (August 2007 - January 2008), to know the benefits of PTCA in the diastolic function with ischemia, evaluating with in DT and PD echocardiogram before and after PTCA. Results: We studied 32 patients, 28 men (84%) and 4 women (16%), age mean 58.8 years old , with ischemic myocardial diagnostic (8 heart attack and 26 angina) we did DT with a E/A ratio 0.77 meanwhile PD have E/A ratio 1.05. Two months later of PTCA we did a new PD with E/A ratio 1.08 while DT E/A ratio 0.82, with better ratio in both methods. Nine (22%) of the 32 patients in two months with PD and DT are now without diastolic function with E/A ratio of 1.15. Conclusions: The left ventricular diastolic function measure by echocardiography DT get better in patients with myocardial ischemia has a mayor sensibility and specificity in relation with PD.
