ABSTRACT

Objective: Determine the left ventricular dyastolic dysfunction early by Doppler tissue echocardiography in patients underwent to chemotherapy. Methods: Were included patients, whom received chemotherapy, without cardiac illness, they underwent an echocardiography tissue Doppler with measurement of the velocities peak in systole (Sa), velocities diastole early (Ea), velocities diastole late (Aa) and relation E/Ea, in the mitral annulus, the basal segment of interventricular septum and lateral wall of the left ventricle. Before, the finish and four weeks after the chemotherapy. Results: Twenty patients were included. They received chemotherapy by 1 and 7 days. Early after chemotherapy, the velocities peak systole decrease in 2 patients and 3 patients was observed diastolic dysfunction of the left ventricle, with decrease of the velocities diastole early (Ea) (7.6 ± 2.05 cm/s) and increase of the velocities diastole late (Aa) (8.3 ± 2.4 cm/s). The follow-up to 4 weeks, in 3 patients, the velocities peak systole decrease and 7 patients was observed diastolic dysfunction of the left ventricle with decrease of the mitral E peak velocity and velocities diastolic early (Ea).And systolic function conserved. Conclusion: Our results confirm the utility of the echocardiography tissue Doppler for detection early of the left ventricular dyastolic dysfunction, and subclinical cardiotoxicity in these patients.
