ABSTRACT

Objective: To report the experience on tetanus of a general hospital. Design: Case report. Setting: ICU of a general hospital; Toluca, State of Mexico, Mexico. Patients: Three patients with tetanus admitted to the ICU. Interventions: Mechanical ventilation support with sedation/ neuromuscular blocking and antibiotic therapy. Results: The first two patients died and the last was discharged with minimal neurological and psychiatric complications. Conclusion: Tetanus is a rare disease but it has a high rate of mortality in our state.
