ABSTRACT
The eosinophilia occur often in preterm newborns. It has been defined as an absolut count of eosinophils › 700/mm
3. Mild eosinophilia between 700-999/mm
3, moderate is from 1,0002,999/mm
3 and › 3,000/mm
3 as severe.
We reported the case of a female preterm newborn of 31.3 week by Capurro, weigth 690 grams. She was born by section cesarea, the mother was 31 years old, and she presented persistent eosinophilia during the first four weeks of life with a peak of 12,450/mm
3 and the etiology probably were multiples factors.
The cases reportes have described that eosinophilia can be associated with several conditions, however the causes are poorly known.
