ABSTRACT

Objective. The wound is produced by violence has been increased in the last 20 years; by this reason we wanted to study this problem in the Sonora State, Mexico.
Material and methods. This is an retrospective observational and descriptive study, done in two parts; the first one included all subjects bellow 18 years of age, wounded the years between 1988 to 1998. In the second, we reviewed the clinical records of children and adolescents wounded, which were attended in the Hospital Infantil of Sonora (HIES) in the last 20 years.
Results. The main age group affected go from 11 to 18 years old: 125 cases (94.6%); the stab wound was done intentionally in 120 (90.9%) and mortality registered was 4 (3.0). In the Hospital were attended 16 cases; 15 of them were male, an half of them used drugs.
Conclusion. In order to reduce the frequency of this problem, it is necesary to join efforts of family, society, teachers, justice, lawyers, pediatriscians, owner of arms stores; aisled actions it do not progress.
