ABSTRACT

Retinal arterial macroaneurysms are acquired dilatations on retinal vasculature; they tend to be present in patients older than 60 years, predominantly in women, unilateral in 90% of cases and a strong association with hypertension and atherosclerosis.
We present the case of a male with rupture of a macroaneurysm and premacular subhyaloid hemorrhage, successfully treated with pneumatic displacement using sulfur hexafluoride and argon laser photocoagulation.
