ABSTRACT

Three patients with benign sixth nerve palsy are presented, two of them with benign recurrent sixth nerve palsy. Case 1 had a recurrent palsy with 3 episodes with complete recovery in the first and the second attack, in the third attack medial rectus contraction developed and surgery was needed. Case 2 had a recurrent palsy, the first attack at six months after a DPT immunization and the second attack at nearly 2 years of age with complete recovery within the first 2 months. No surgery was needed. Case 3 had a benign sixth nerve palsy for the first time after a fever period with complete recovery within the first 2 months. No surgery was needed. Early neurologic, pediatric examinations, lumbar puncture and CAT scans were performed in all patients being normal in all of them.
