ABSTRACT
Objective: Research of the oral microbiology present in the third molar area before and after prophylactic trans-alveolar extraction in healthy individuals.
Material and methods: 30 healthy patients with asymptomatic and included third molars were selected. Clinical and radiographic screen prior extraction was performed. Microorganism’s samples were obtained whipping the third molar region with sterile hyssops, placed in an infusion liquid and transported in agar solid base. The samples previous and after extraction were obtained.
Results: Staphylococcus aureus coagulasse (+) was the most frequent before and after the surgical procedure followed by bacillus sp,
Klebsiella pneumoniae and
Candida albicans with 8% frequency in the first culture. In the second culture
Candida albicans was absent in all the samples.
Conclusions: Transalveolar prophylactic extraction of third molars breaks’ the normal microflora of the oral cavity, it provokes an increase of bacteria, mainly
Staphylococcus aureus coagulasse, however, it is an important decision to lower the opportunistic microorganisms in the third molar area and a probable infection.
