ABSTRACT

Purpose: To analyze the incidence of retinopathy of prematurity in the "Hospital Gea González".
Methods: A prospective, observational and descriptive study was realized including premature patients with birth weight 1500 to 2000 g and supplemental oxygen therapy.
Evaluation was performed on the 4th and 6th week of chronological age.
Results: 33 male (45.20%) and 40 female patients (54.80%) were included in the study. Gestation age average was 32.41 weeks and weight average 1320 g.
The incidence of retinopathy of prematurity was 23%.
Conclusion: The incidence in this study is lower than that reported worldwide.
