ABSTRACT

Oncogene is a protein system related to the mechanism of production of cancer produced by virus infections or suppressed genes inactivation. They are related with the inhibitors mechanisms of the apoptosis and they behave as dominant or recessive trait. They constitute a complex system that includes the membrane receptors and their enzymatic systems. In ophthalmology important examples of such tumors are retinoblastoma, neurofibromatosis, tuberous sclerosis, Von Hippel Lindau disease, Gorlin-Goltz syndrome, familiar melanoma syndrome and Cowden syndrome.
