ABSTRACT
Objective:To describe the case of a symptomatic lymphocele after a renal transplant, treated by means of a video-laparoscopic approach.Setting:Third level health care hospital.
Design:Report of a clinical case.
Case description:Woman of 54 years of age with end-stage chronic renal failure secondary to severe arterial hypertension, who had received a renal transplant in 2001 from a cadaveric donor. Three months later, she referred slight pain in the transplant region, without associated urinary symptoms. A symptomatic lymphocele is suspected clinically and echographically. Internal drainage was performed by means of fenestration to the peritoneum using a video-laparoscopic approach, without accidents nor immediate surgical complications. She was discharged after 48 hours. After 10 months of evolution, no complication has occurred nor recurrence of the lymphocele.
Conclusion:Video-laparoscopic drainage of a symptomatic lymphocele after a renal transplant constitutes a valid and feasible therapeutic option in our milieu.
