ABSTRACT

Objective:To report the case of a female patient, who was diagnosed, through clinical and imaging methods, to course with a giant hepatic cyst.
Setting:Second level health care hospital.
Case description:A woman in her 50s, with a history of 6 months evolution of abdominal pain in the right hypochondrium and palpable mass, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, weight loss of 9 kg in 3 weeks. Imaging studies revealed a cystic lesion of the right liver lobule; endoscopy revealed extrinsic gastric compression. Exploratory laparotomy revealed a right giant liver cyst with yellow-greenish liquid inside. The cyst was drained and unroofed.
