ABSTRACT
Forty eight patients that needed removable partial prostheses (RPP) were studied in order to find differences in the inhibitory reflex of the masseter muscle according to the RPP support. A base line reflexigram (RFXG) was obtained before treatment and a second RFXG when the patient was adapted to the RPP. Comparison of both RFXG’s to find differences among the two types of prostheses, finding an improvement. Statistical differences were found with the c2 there was an improvement on the left side. Statistical significance (p =0.05) in both types of prostheses for the left side compared to the entire upper. Other associations had no significant statistical differences. Although there was an improvement in the RFXG in most of the subjects after prosthetic placement, it is increased on the left side masseter, probably because the most of the subject’s right side (83.33%) had a bad RFXG, meanwhile the left side accounted for 35.41%.
