ABSTRACT

Surgical treatment of slipped capital femoral epiphysis with canulated screws is a technique that offers advantages and good results. One hundred and nine hips were treated, 105 with in situ fixation and 4 with closed reduction and fixation. Good results developed in 82 hips (85.4%) and complications in 17 hips (15.59%). Chondrolysis developed in 13 hips (11.92%) and avascular necrosis in 4 hips (3.66%), having a clear relationship with intrarticular pin protrusion in 46.15% of the complicated 17 cases.
