Renal transplantation.

ABSTRACT

The kidney transplant is the therapy of choice for the majority of the patients with chronic terminal kidney insufficiency. The success of transplant, is from the multidisciplinary work of a team of doctors, nurses, social workers and psychologists. The knowledge of the immunology, the improvement in the surgical techniques, the use better immunosuppressive treatment and the cares in the post-transplants, have allowed to reduce the incidence of loss of graft and improved the quality of life of the patients after the renal transplant. Next, we will describe the general bases of the immunology of the transplant, the types of transplants, the criteria of selection of donor and renal receiver, the drug presently used and the monitoring of a patient with renal graft.
