ABSTRACT

Exfoliative cytology is a fast execution, simple and not invasive diagnose method used in oral Pathology. The objective was to quantify the number of Nucleolar Organizer Regions (NORs) died with colloidal silver (AgNORs) as cellular proliferations indicator in chronical smokers patients’ mucous descamative cells. The NORs are located inside the nucleus in number of 1 or 2. We found that they changed in size and number. The average was from 3 to 7.5 per cell in yugal mucous and from 2.1 to 4.3 in tongue. AgNORs’ average per nucleous in yugal mucous was statistically longer comparising to the average in descamative cells in tongue. The Pearson’s relations analysis showed an error margin of .20% according to the averages of AgNORs’ number per cell.
