ABSTRACT

Heck´s disease also known as multifocal epithelial hyperplasia, was first described in native Navajo children. They are multiple painless, round or oval lesions, of different sizes, oversurface, with the same color of the adjacent mucous membrane. Human papiloma virus has been described as the cause of this condition. Spontaneous remission takes place several months or years later. There are different treatment options. Paediatricians and stomatologists must be able to recognize this condition in order to make the diagnosis and prescribe the best treatment.
