ABSTRACT

Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH) is a peculiar probably reactive condition in which the endothelial cells appear as sprouts and solid excrescences within vessels. The resulting image may be somewhat confounding. Rarely IPEH may develop at the gastrointestinal tract and be part of a bleeding vascular lesion. Present report refers two cases of IPEH presenting in children, a 3 month- old infant with a vascular malformation in the stomach, and a 4 year-old girl with a recurrent angiomatous lesion in the duodenal wall. Immunohistochemistry for CD34 and D2-40 was of some aid in defining the final diagnosis.
