ABSTRACT

There is a short knowledge about visual defects in patients with Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy, the reason of this study raises if the visual alterations in this suffering can be associated to himself or can appear not necessarily by a relation with this pathology. 14 patients were studied ages 6 and 23 years of age they were confirmed diagnose by biopsy with muscular Dystrophy of Duchenne, to which was made campimetry and visual. Results of visual fields display a loss of fixation of 0/0 in the 16% (f = 4) until 10/11xx 84% (f = 10); false negatives in right eye from 0% to 58% and 0% to 99% of the left one. Positive the false errors oscillated from 0% to 90%and the negatives of 0% to visual 33%. Visual Test of 20/20 in 50% (f =7), of 20/25 up to 20/60 in 50% (f = 7). 3 patients presented/displayed findings of astigmatism, myopia and hypermetropy. In visual test 50% being normal and since 20/25 up to 20/60 were 50%. Three patients presented/displayed findings of astigmatism, myopia and hypermetropy. The studied simple were small, however it suggests that patient with muscular dystrophy present alterations in the visual test that could have relation with the beginning of the lost one of the muscular force in the rest of the body including the muscles that move the ocular globe in the abilities of the activities of daily life. It does not conclude if other visual alterations as the myopia or the astigmatism is related to the suffering in if.
