Prevalence and degree of depression in patients in rehabilitation

ABSTRACT
Objective: Knowing prevalence and grade of depression in the rehabilitative patients.
Material and methods: I study observacional, side road, prospective, accomplished in Carnal Medicina’s and Rehabilitation No.’s Unit 1 of the IMSS, in 67 patients’ probabilistic sign for proportions, elders of 18 years both sexes, without background of upsets of depression, drug abuse or medications whose secondary reaction be the depression. Evaluated him the presence of depression by means of two scales, the scale of depression Hamilton and Becker’s Inventory of depression. They examined the results with Spearman’s proof. SPSS utilized the statistical parcel himself v.17.
Results: (39%) depression was diagnosed in 26 patients, and the rest 41 patients (61%) did not present it. The patients with mild depression, the 53% presented temporary disability and the 47% permanent disability, in the patients with moderate depression the 20% presented temporary disability and the 80% permanent disability. The 100% presented disability in the grave depression permanent. Top of Form Bottom of Form.
Findings: We found an increase in the prevalence of depression in patients with disability, it found a significant relation between grave depression and permanent disability.
