ABSTRACT

Mucormycosis is a severe, invasive and devastating fungal infection caused by mucorals order fungi, immunocompromised patients are most involved. The clinical presentations recognized are the rhinocerebral, pulmonary, cutaneous, gastrointestinal, disseminated and miscellaneous. We reported a male of 52 years old with a history of alcohol intake and poorly controlled diabetes mellitus with an empyema and cutaneous fistula diagnosis. After surgical treatment, an Invasive Pulmonary Mucormycosis was diagnosed by histologic studies and culture isolating Rhizopus ssp. Amphotericin B and surgical resection on three occasions was required, with appropriate proper evolution.
