ABSTRACT

The condyloma acuminata association of the vulva, perineum and perianal region with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) raises a challenge for the gynecologist of finding the adequate treatment for this pathology. This treatment must have special characteristics that favours its application such as low cost, easy application and accessibility. Before treatment a complete medical history must be performed to discard immunosuppression associated pathology, because it is considered a risk factor for HPV. On this study we compare the effectiveness of treatment for condyloma acuminata between electrosurgery alone, and electrosurgery associated with topic 5 fluorouracil (5-Fu). This study was conducted in the Hospital Lic. Adolfo López Mateos of the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores para el Estado (ISSSTE) from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2006. The results demonstrate that the most effective treatment for condyloma acuminata is electrosurgery associated with topic 5-Fu.
