ABSTRACT

The eventration of the diaphragm is an abnormal elevation of a portion of the diaphragm. It is a rare condition, which can be symptomatic like respiratory distress, recurrent pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, chest pain, poor exercise tolerance, cardiac arrhythmias; particularly in the children who have significant respiratory commitment. The early diagnosis is necessary and the plication is the election treatment. The accepted surgical treatment of routine for the diaphragmatic eventration is the plication of the diaphragm with thoracotomy. A technique of minimum invasion by thoracoscopy offering a significant benefit, but in children has been developed.
