ABSTRACT

Introduction: Corneal wounds generally require suture repair that induce refractive changes such as irregular astigmatism as well as leucomas that make the patient candidate for procedures like penetrating keratoplasty for its correction. Case report: A 60 years old male patient had a corneal laceration secondary to vegetable trauma in his left eye with a refractive shift from hyperopia to myopia in his left eye that produce an improvement in his near visual acuity, thus discontinuing his near-sight glasses. Discussion: Although exceptionally, some corneal wounds may induce a beneficial refractive shift for the patient that requires no other kind of treatment.
