ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine efficacy of an integral rehabilitation treatment compared to the traditional approach rehabilitation and to a pharmacologic treatment with pregabalin in Fibromyalgia patients.
Methods: Quasi-experimental prospective longitudinal design. Sample obtained by quota 30 female patients with fibromyalgia, divided proportionally in 3 groups: Integral rehabilitation, Traditional rehabilitation, and Pharmacological treatment with pregabalin. Treatments were set to last 6 weeks. Patients were checked at beginning and end of term with an analog visual pain scale, sensible points scheme, fibromyalgia impact questionnaire and SF-36 related quality of life questionnaire. Wilcoxon test, and Mann-Whitney’s «U» test were used for statistical analysis.
Results: There was no significant difference among the study groups at the beginning of the study. There was significant improvement in the integral rehabilitation and pregabalin groups at the end of the treatment period in regards to tender points and improved quality of life. Integral rehabilitation was better than pregabalin in the number of tender points.
Conclusion: Integral rehabilitation stands as a better treatment to increase life quality and reduce symptoms in patients with fibromyalgia.
