ABSTRACT

A transversal, prospective and analytical study in asthmatic patients from Calixto García Hospital out patient allergy department was made. Two groups were conformed, the study one with 160 asthmatic patients and a control with 100 non clinical allergic condition subjects. We performed skin Prick test with American Cockroach (Periplaneta americana) extracts in 10, 100, 1000 PNU, and in asthmatic with positive tests, total IgE and Western Blotting assays. Asthmatic patients showed positive skin test frequently, but not the control group. Elevated total IgE values were seen in most of cockroach sensitize patients. Four major allergens were detected with high frequency and intensive IgE recognition.
