ABSTRACT

Reactive airways dysfunction syndrome is considered an asthma subtype. These two entities are recognized as different pathologies. According to classification of occupational asthma, it is considered not to have an immunological cause and it ensues after exposure to high concentrations of irritant gases. We present a case of a 58-year-old woman who had no previous history of pulmonary pathology or atopias, exposed to high concentrations of tear gas and who developed bronchospasm and airflow limitation.
