ABSTRACT

Laparoscopic hernioplasty has demonstrated good results if the principles of the appropriate learning curve such as being familiarized with the anatomy of the inguinal region, receiving proctorship in the first procedures, proper selection of the patients and others are followed. In this review, the authors mention the main advantages of laparoscopic hernia repair, analyzing the cost and the advantages of faster return to work in the public institution in which they work.
