ABSTRACT

Case presentation of a 20 year-old male with bilateral spontaneous pneumothorax and Marfan syndrome. In spite of international consensus guiding the treatment of primary spontaneous pneumothorax, secondary spontaneous pneumothorax in this genetic disease is associated with higher recurrence rates and severity. Therefore, it warrants specific discussion and treatment considerations. We present a literature review to document the pulmonary affection in Marfan syndrome that causes spontaneous pneumothorax. We present our therapeutical approach for this case, and recommendations based on literature review and experience.
