ABSTRACT

Objective: A bibliographic review of the development of hysteroscopic contraceptive procedures, including their success rate and complications. Conclusions: Hysteroscopic contraception is an excellent option for Mexican women; it needs training and diffusion. The objective is to lessen its cost to institutions and to the patient, and to offer a highly effective method under local anesthesia with no surgical incisions, easy application in an ambulatory setting, and few days for recovery, allowing the practice of intrauterine procedures in the future.

Key words: Contraception, hysteroscopy.
