ABSTRACT

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to know which are the orthopedic appliance that are used in the Dental Specialty Center, which is the most used appliance in the institution, quantify the amount of device that were placed during 2008. Methods: Is performed an observational, cross-sectional study, which involved 1,760 patients receiving orthopedic care. Variable: A patient may have used 2 or more orthopedic device in 2008. Results: The orthopedic device more used was Hayrax screw. The total of orthopedic appliance used was 1954. We are recorded in graphics the appliances orthopedic that are used in a preventive or interceptive way. Also recorded by their implementation: mechanics, gnathologic or functional. Conclusion: If you apply and implements orthopedic care in a timely manner will was reduce the incidence of wrong positions of the teeth and anatomophysiological problem of the oral cavity; additionally orthopedic treatments could reducing and/or avoid orthodontic treatments, such as statistical indicator itself appreciate the need to implement this attention in more clinical of the state of Mexico.
